Day 3 after

Audrey had her surgery on thursday to lift her eyelids so that she could see better. As you can tell from the before picture she had to lift her head to see forward and up.
We got to primary children's at around 11 am and quickly got checked in and sent to the pre-op waiting area. Our surgery was scheduled for 12:30 and we sat waiting, as 12:30 came and went. They ended up taking her back at around 2pm. We got to walk her down the hall, handed her over to the anesthesiologist and went to the waiting room. The waiting went pretty fast, we had lunch with us and we ate while we chatted with a friend who's daughter was also having surgery. Around 3pm they came in and told us everything went well and asked one of us to go back with her. She was already waking up from the anesthesia and very relieved to be held by her mommy.
We took her home after a couple of hours in the post-op recovery and she pretty much slept a lot if the afternoon until around 10 pm when i think the anesthesia started to finish wearing off. She started getting fussy and uncomfortable and she rubber her eye... shortly after that the bleeding began. Her left eye pretty much bled all night, and you could tell she was so uncomfortable. I was pretty much worried, they didn't tell me to expect any bleeding so i thought she had popped a stitch or something, so at 8 am i called the doctor who told us to come on by. We waited a bit and he saw us between patients, and told us it wasn't too unusual and to let him know if it didn't stop by the next day. This is when the guy smacked me! We were saying thanks and goodbye and he taps my shoulder then smacks it so hard it made a noise! geeze you would think a plastic surgeon had more delicate hands! lol aside from that trip to the doctors office she slept all day. She slept all day long while making these little crying sounds and then eventually slept through the night while making crying sounds.
Come Saturday she woke up a little more alert and less uncomfortable, by saturday afternoon she was wanting to sit up and starting to talk and look around and wanting to play, she was getting back to normal. She's been doing great since. Slowly she's been acting more like herself and getting used to her open eyes.
Overall the surgery went well with no complications during the surgery and only a few bumps since. Her whole little face has changed, and she looks so different now that her eyes are open. Neither of her eyes will close for now, she can force them closed if she wants but they will stay open when she sleeps and we have to put ointment in them so that they don't dry out. Of coarse she hates the ointment and freaks out whenever she sees it, but I'm getting better at sneaking it. Other than the ointment she is on 2 different pain relievers, antibiotic, her growth hormone, and mirilax. Its kind of a lot and i feel like she's getting more medicine than food, but she's doing well with it.
The swelling and bruising should go down within 10 days, and she's been getting better every day.
